Back to chickerinoDOTcom Written on 09-Nov-2008 by chickerinoDriving to my sister's today when the battery went. Due to all the fancy gizmology, it would appear you have to have a battery to actually be able to drive (read: not stall) these days. Of course this all happened whilst trying to turn at a busy set of traffic lights on a junction. Tres embarrassing!
Feel free to laugh at me in the comments below.

How about we turn this sensational post into a fascinating recount of all our electrical defects this week?
Here are a few of mine:
- The motor to my vacuum cleaner is sparking and I am fairly sure that it will blow up if I continue to use without getting the resister fixed or whatever cause of the problem may be.
It seems unfair to stop the fun just at the point where we're all experiencing reading ecstasy.
Let's then open it up to mechanicl defects as well:
- Two screws need tightening on my bicycle's luggage rack, so that it currently rattles.
Sometimes my mum retells me details of people's daily routines she has heard about from friends of hers. She, however, has never met them herself and I have previously never heard of them. Those type of stories likewise have me on the edge of my seat.

Didn't the battery warning light turn on prior to flat-lining?
Unless the battery was worn out I'd say you need a new alternator as the current one can't even supply enough juice to keep the sparks going.

yes, the battery light did light up, but kinda stuck in between deciding whether it mattered and trying to work out where to get a new battery on a sunday when everything stopped working!
other thing that I have broken / been involved in breaking over the past 4 weeks:
* 2 sony vaio laptops (buy mac in future)
* 2 hp optiplex servers (buy dell in future)
* 1 mac hard-drive - though only by association. keith who was sitting next to me accidentally kicked over his computer
* windows vista - does that count? or was it just born wrong in the first place?
* more than one wine glass
* our frigging boiler!

you forgot about the hearts of many women (and occassionally men) passing you by across town on a daily basis... now that's really breaking something irrepairable

ok, have to tell a classic family story here:
My dad's car battery dired on him in a similar situation.
He got the AA to come fix it, he didn't know what went wrong.
AA: Sir, it's the battery of your car.
My dad: sorry, this car does not have a battery, it's automatic!
Genious.

I like his train of thought. A long and happy carreer awaits him at WebJam Inc.
Sometime during the '80s my dad was looking to buy a Mazda 626. He wanted a diesel engine and a sunroof. UnFortunatly Mazda was unable to build this extravagantly spec'ed car as sunroofs could NOT be combined with diesel engines. I mean WTF, what was my dad thinking right?!

Presumably this is all covered under the warranty? It was a new bought vehicle, wasn't it? Strange thing to go wrong on a new car...

"Pre-owned" as BMW puts it. In case of an M3 (or any other performance car) it should be "Pre Trashed" or "Had-its-tits-revved-off-many-times-before".

uhuh! I thought all three terms were official BMW jargon.
p.s. I've just back to the land of the living. (Kind of)
